Adopt a Team Program
The Shootout aims to support the growth of the game through all QLD associations and clubs.
QLD clubs/ associations are invited to participate in the Adopt a Team program.
This program is designed to benefit both the visiting teams and the association adopting a team by connecting players, officials and supporters from both groups.
Commitment from participating associations

A contact (Team Liaison Officer) who will support the visiting team with any enquiries before and during the tournament. Areas of support may include accommodation and transport suggestions.

Host a dinner (BBQ etc) for their adopted team during the tournament to help reduces the costs for the visiting teams and create strong personal relationships for both parties.

Ensure at least a group of 30 (ideally 50) junior players participate in a coaching clinic/ training session at Redlands Softball on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the 2025 Shootout. This structure is designed to increase exposure of local players and their families to the game’s best players during a high-quality event.

Where possible, bunting, banners and flags are encouraged by all associations to enhance the team and spectator experience while promoting the region wide geographic footprint of the game across QLD.

Promote the Shootout through channels including website, social media etc to their members in the lead up and during the tournament.

Benefits for participating clubs/associations in the Adopt a Team program.

Clubs/Associations supporting the Shootout through the “Adopt a Team” program may nominate 1 male and 1 female player for inclusion to the Development Pick Up List for inclusion on a participating team. The nominated player must have represented that association at the previous 2 Open, U/23 or U/19 State Championships to be eligible. The addition of a Development Pick Up List player allows teams to increase their playing roster to a total of 16 and fosters the development of QLD based players who participate with their home association.

Clubs/Associations supporting the event through the Adopt a Team program may nominate a bat boy or girl for their adopted team. The young player in this role should be available for the duration of the event and represented their association at state championships in both of the previous 2 years. The age bracket for a batboy/girl is 13-16 years of age.
