Team Information

The Macarthur Fastpitch Shootout is an invitational tournament for men’s and women’s club teams. Teams and individual players from Australia and overseas are encouraged to participate.

A key objective of the Macarthur Fastpitch Shootout is to support the growth of the game and associations within beyond the Camden local government area.

In addition, key rules in conjunction with the “Adopt a Team” and “Marquee Player” programs have been established to enable both the world’s best players and junior players from NSW with high potential to participate.

The organisers work extensively across the Australian and international softball communities to invite teams of the highest quality. If your team wishes to participate, please contact the Tournament Director via email.

Team Requirements

The Macarthur Fastpitch Shootout has ensured that structures and processes are in place that both encourage teams teams to access some of the world’s overseas best players and also rewarding local players for continuing to play with their local NSW associations. These structures are key to both the event’s success and the game’s continued growth.

The structures achieve these goals include:

Team rosters will be capped at 14 players*

11 of whom should have participated in the immediate previous season/qualifying tournament for that team. Two exceptions exist to this requirement

One marquee player

Can be added by each team (to total 15*) to enhance their roster. Marquee player status is subject to approval by a technical committee. As a guide, the player should have competed in the most recent WBSC World Cup (men and women) event (underage or open), are an ISC (men) All World team member (previous 2 years), current ISC (men) PRAWN or NCAA (women) Division 1 WCWS participant in the last 3 years. The Macarthur Fastpitch Shootout welcomes proposals from teams for Marquee player who do not fall into these above listed categories. Proposals should be directed to the Tournament Director.

Development Pick Up List

NSW Softball associations (affiliates) supporting the Macarthur Fastpitch Shootout through the “Adopt a Team” program may nominate 1 male and 1 female player for inclusion to the Development Pick Up List for inclusion on a participating team. The player must have represented that association at the previous 2 Open, U/23 or U/19 State Championships to be eligible. The addition of a Development Pick Up List player allows teams to increase their playing roster to a total of 16* and fosters development of NSW based players who participate with their home association. The Macarthur Fastpitch Shootout fundamentally believes in and wishes to support players continuing to play at their home associations for the betterment of the game.
