2023 marks the 30th Anniversary of the NSW State League.
Join one of the founding league commissioners, Sandy Pollock who has gone deep into her personal archives to curate a rich collection that will be displayed from the league that has played games at many associations as well as at the 3 most recent homes of NSW Softball: Homebush, Parklea and Blacktown Olympic Softball Park. All players, officials and fans are welcome and we hope to celebrate 3 decades of the league and particularly the 3 foundation clubs still playing: Mounties (men), Hills and Sharks (women).
1981 and 1982 mark two special games in softball folklore. The 1981 ISC World Tournament in Saginaw, Michigan USA saw Peter Meredith and Peter Finn go head to head for 34 innings. Eventually, it was Finn’s Midland McArdle team that walked away with the win.
Closer to home, in 1982 a 2 week (yes-2 week long!) Women’s National Championship in Melbourne ended in a draw. NSW and Victoria led by respective pitchers, Heather McCann and Joanne Paez walked away as joint champions due to there being no lights on the ground. Whether you still spend every weekend at a softball field or haven’t been back for decades, we look forward to welcoming you and know that you will enjoy seeing many friends, former teammates and faces from across the game.
Smaller groups, such as teams and associations are welcome to host reunion events during the Shootout.
